Five MA Juniors Headed to Edmonton, Canada to Compete in the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships

Team Event on July 22-24, Individual Event on Jul 25-29
After successfully qualifying to represent the U.S. during the Junior International Trials held last April, five Massachusetts Juniors head off to Canada and competed in the 2012 Pan American Junior Badminton Championships.
Notable among them is Alan Shekhtman of Maugus who made it to the USA Team that will compete in the Team Event for both the Pan Am and the World (in Chiba, Japan) Junior Badminton Championships. The five MA juniors who competed in the individual events are:


Juniors Show their Strength in 2012 US Junior Nationals

Many Northeast juniors competed in the 2012 K&D Graphics US Junior Nationals in Orange County, CA this past July. Most of the juniors hail from three major training centers in Massachusetts: Marblehead Youth Badminton (MYB), Maugus Club, and Boston Badminton (Bosbad), but players from New Jersey, Maryland, and North Carolina also competed.

 Alan Shekhtman is first Awardee Judy Devlin Fund for Excellence in Badminton
            Alan Shekhtman of Maugus Club, MA, a member of Team USA that won the Team Championship at the 2012 Pan Am Junior Championships, is the first awardee of the Judy Devlin Fund for Excellence in Badminton.  For the year 2012, Alan is the most accomplished Junior in the Northeast, winning the doubles event in the Connecticut Open and Junior Nationals (U19) and being a finalist in singles in the MidAtlantic Classic and Junior International Trials.


2012 IBC Junior Super International Intensive Competitive Camp

As we wrap up our traditional summer camp at International Badminton Center in Edison, NJ, our 2012 IBC Junior Super International Intensive Competitive Camp started. The camp help prepare and practice for the 2012 Yonex IBC Junior Championship the following week. The campers had a chance to train with 2 of China's professional Junior players and their Coach.
